Obituary for David Kevin Sullivan

David Kevin Sullivan, a systems engineer and longtime resident of Austin, TX, died unexpectedly at his home at the age of 52.

David is survived by his mother, Sara R. Sullivan of Germantown, TN; his brother Steven T. Sullivan of York, PA; his nephews Owen, Riley and Finn Sullivan; and his sister-in-law Stephanie Monte Sullivan; as well as many beloved uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, George L. Sullivan, and his grandparents.

David was born July 6th, 1965 in Greenwood, MS. He attended Christian Brothers High School from 1979 to 1983, where he was a proud member of their record-setting band, and made both the All-West Tennessee Blue Band and the All-State Band on flute. He attended Christian Brothers University and Memphis State University to study engineering. During the 1980s David was on the leading edge of office automation using personal computers and networks, and built a loyal following of firms and organizations in Memphis who relied on his services. He moved to Raleigh and then to Austin to fill a series of positions with Cooperative Computing Inc/Triad Systems (now Epicor), spending most of his 30-year career with this one organization. David was skilled at his profession and also deeply personally enjoyed his colleagues.

David loved good food and drink and company, making Austin a perfect location where he spent many happy years, and showed a fondness for witty conversation from his earliest days at the family dinner table. He was always fascinated by how things work, and how to make them work better. He was a beloved son, loving brother, cousin and uncle, and cherished friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
