Elisha Homer  Turner Jr.
Elisha Homer Turner, Jr. was born January 5, 1925 in Martinsville, VA. He was the son of Elisha Home Turner Sr. and Annie Mae Shumate Turner of Martinsville, VA (both deceased).

Predeceased Siblings = Evelyn Barnes, Paul Turner, James William Turner, Henry Turner. Living Margaret Taylor and Daniel Turner both of Martinsville, VA.

Married Eugenia Bell Rogers Turner from Memphis on September 19, 1944 and they remained married until her death on May 1, 2001.

Surviving Children =Lee Anne Turner of West Memphis, AR; David Turner of Woodbridge, VA; Elizabeth Louise Cavens of Millington, TN. Nancy Turner, predeceased her father on June 30, 2014.

Grandchildren = Michele Dozier of Knoxville, TN; Amanda Turner of Woodbridge, VA; Brian Turner of Harrisonburg, VA; Max Cavens of Millington, TN; Nick Cavens of Millington, TN; and George Joey Turner of Memphis, TN. Mr. Turner also has five healthy great grandchildren.

Homer Turner was a 22 year veteran and Retired from the U. S. Navy and served in the U. S. Marine Corps during WWII. After retirement he worked and the Memphis Speech and hearing Center as Senior Maintenance Officer, and Supervisory Mechanic at the Bowling Alley on the Navy base in Millington. He graduated from State Technical Institute of Memphis in 1979 with an Associate Degree in Science.

He was a member of First Baptist Church Millington, TN since 1986.

Mr. Turner was an avid golfer and was a member of the Naval Air Station Memphis-Millington golf club for many years. He began his career as a caddie at the age of 9 in Martinsville, VA and played on the Navy Golf Team during his service. He played and won numerous golf tournaments over the years.

Homer lived most of his adult life in Millington. During his Navy career from 1947 to 1960 and 1965 to 2014. He moved to assisted living in Memphis in December 2014.

At 92 years of age Mr. Turner made many friends in his lifetime and even made new friends at assisted living. He will be missed by friends and family.

Services will include a visitation and funeral at Forest Hill East Funeral Home, 2440 Whitten Rd., Memphis, beginning at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 15.

A memorial service and visitation in Millington will be at the First Baptist Church, 5010 West Union Rd., Millington, TN 38053, on Monday, October 16 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
