Dorothy H. ""Dot"" Dinkins
Dorothy H. “Dot” Dinkins, nee McLean, passed peacefully on December 30, 2017. She was born December 1, 1921 in Edinburgh, Scotland to William and Catherine McLean. She served in the Royal Air Force during WWII and while stationed in Peterborough, England, met a handsome young G.I. serving in the U.S. Air Force, the love of her life, James A. “Jimmy” Dinkins. After a brief courtship, they married on February 24, 1945. Shortly afterwards, Jimmy was sent back to the U.S. and Dot stayed behind until their first child, Kay was born a year later. When Kay was 3 months old, Dot came to the U.S. to join her husband. She became a naturalized citizen in 1951. In 1952, their second child, Patsy was born. Dot and Jimmy were married until his death July 3, 1986.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her 3 sisters and brother. She leaves to cherish her memory, her two daughters, Kay Ladd of Ft. Smith, AR, Patsy Walker (Bill) of Little Rock, AR her grandchildren Brandi Ladd Gilliaum (Shannon) of Greenwood, AR and Jeff Ladd (Dianna) of Ft. Smith, AR. And four great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the wonderful, caring staff at Fianna Hills Nursing Home and Mercy Hospice. She could not have had better care.
Services will be at Highland Heights Presbyterian Church on Friday, January 5, 2018, at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be one hour before. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, make donations to the charity of your choice. Internment will be at Forest Hill East cemetery.
